Alumni Code of Conduct

Girls Who Invest Alumni Code of Conduct

The Girls Who Invest (“GWI”) values integrity, education, mentorship, and community. We strive to integrate these values into our educational programs, career development offerings, community building initiatives, and business practices. The success of the GWI community depends on our ability to attract, retain, and advance women investors, changemakers, and leaders in the Investment Management industry.

All members of the GWI community are expected to further our mission. Therefore, all are expected to exemplify our community values and sustain our high ethical standards. To ensure that the GWI experience is meaningful, productive, and safe for all, GWI requires each community member to read and comply with this Code of Conduct in order to be eligible to participate in community opportunities.

GWI Values

All community members must be aligned with the mission and vision of GWI; in doing so, you agree to uphold the values below. Equity is the core value driving Girls Who Invest — it is the foundation of everything we do. GWI believes in:

  • Diversifying investment teams to drive better outcomes and create meaningful impact

  • Welcoming those who self-identify as women and gender non-binary

  • Advocating fiercely for communities that have historically faced barriers to entry and advancement

  • Utilizing ongoing education as a resource to help women thrive in an evolving investment landscape

  • Accelerating careers through the power of community connection

  • Shaping the investment management industry to look more like the world around it

  • Ensuring all who interact with GWI: scholars, alumni, board members, and staff encounter an inclusive, respectful environment that welcomes each other’s unique skills and perspectives

Our Commitment to Community

The GWI values drive and directly impact our daily work. We are committed to the population we serve and take pride in our ability to foster a strong and vibrant community grounded in:

Inclusivity & Community

GWI embraces diversity and inclusion while creating opportunities for enriching and engaging in a lifelong relationship with GWI. The GWI community welcomes anyone who identifies as a woman - regardless of assignment at birth - those who identify as non-binary or gender nonconforming, and those from historically excluded backgrounds.

Integrity & Respect

GWI conducts itself with the utmost honesty, authenticity, and fairness. Community members must treat others with dignity and respect. The quality of our community is grounded in fostering meaningful, professional relationships and personal connections as we increase the number of women in the investment management industry.

Responsibility & Dedication

GWI seeks a collective involvement in our mission. This extends through our relationships with all community members and the engagement that is created in the symbiotic GWI ecosystem. All community members are expected to give thoughtful consideration before accepting any opportunities and uphold all expectations once a commitment is made. This can include event attendance, professional offers, and any instance where community members are representing GWI.

Our Community Principles

The GWI community principles stem directly from our values, allowing us to maintain a shared understanding as to how we can change the face of investing:

Advocacy & Anti-Discrimination

Our mission calls for us to live our values as we strive to change our industry for the better, through individual and collective action. GWI stands in solidarity with our alumni and community members against injustices. Words are not enough. GWI drives change, listens, facilitates discussion, supports, and most importantly, takes action.

Representation & Reliability

Community members commit their time to giving back and representing GWI in a variety of roles. Therefore, they must embody the GWI identity through their words and actions, as they are seen as a direct reflection of the organization.

Digital Interactions & Information Security

Participants in online communities may not represent or imply that their opinions represent those of GWI. Information shared between community members must remain confidential unless consent is granted.

Violations

Violations of the GWI Alumni Code of Conduct include any behavior and/or language mentioned above or which defames, abuses, threatens others; is racially or sexually harassing; is academically or professionally dishonest; or is bigoted, hateful, or racially offensive.

GWI reserves the right to revoke access to events, digital platforms, email communications, career resources, or can require alumni to remove their GWI affiliation from their own digital profile (e.g. on LinkedIn), if deemed necessary after a violation has occurred.

No Organization policy can provide definitive answers to all questions. It is difficult to anticipate every decision or action that you may face or consider. Whenever there is doubt about the right ethical or legal choice to make, or questions regarding any of the standards discussed or policies referenced in this Code, you should fully disclose the circumstances, seek guidance about the right thing to do, and keep asking until guidance is obtained.
